Golden Age

Genetically, each child is born with different intelligence level. Intelligence genetic factors are difficult to change. But as children grow and develop, nutritional and environmental factors take a large role in the development of intelligence. One of way to open the intelligence is to provide the stimulation.

The brain is an organ that develops in an extraordinary manner in children. Up to 2 years of age, brain weight of the child will reach 75% weight of an adult brain. In other words, the development of a child's brain reaches 90%. This period is often referred to as the golden period or golden age. Not surprisingly, children under 5 years of age have more ability to absorb new information than older child.

Development of the golden age is as follows:

1. Age 12-16 months

Children's creativity was beginning to look at this age. Children have started to like doodling activities, arrange blocks, puzzles, playing with dolls, balls, etc..

2.     Age 18-24 months

Children pointed parts of the body and name the animals or objects. You can also invite them to talk about daily activities, practice drawing, and wear their own clothes and pants.

3.     2-3 years

Children begin to mention adjectives, counting things, brushing teeth, standing on one foot, urinating and defecating by themselves.

4.     Ages 3 years and over

At this age, children are ready for school. Children are able to hold a pencil properly, do a simple calculation, independent and began to learn to share with friends.

Children less than 5 years age are milestones, namely the holistic development of children which is become the foundation of further personal development, such as motor skills, social, emotional and not just depend on intellectual ability.

Emotional and nutritional needs

There are various aspects that affect the brain development of children who began to form in childhood. Particular aspect is the attention and affection from parents which is supported by conducive natural and social environment for child development. The example is very simple.  Expression of love by physical contact such as hugs, caresses, and gentle kiss capable of forming the character of the child and emotional intelligence. This is called stimulation.

Meanwhile, the child's brain development will not reach the optimal stage if not supported by adequate nutritional intake.

Carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, vitamins and other nutrients is an important factor in the growth of children, including the brain.

One study states that the introduction of reading activities, language and mathematics in children less than five years age will make children more easily grasp the lesson. Another way to encourage and train children to have a smart brain for example by invite them in an active communication, introduce text books, play the CD for toddlers and repetition of certain words that children learn to memorize.

Busy parents today make time with our children during this golden age is very limited. One solution to the child's growth can be monitored and well developed is to send them to school in play group level.  Even so, of course, parents still hold the greatest responsibility in the growth of children. Children are the future investment, so keep them well.
